Grand Opening of All-Hands Club at NAS Jax
October 4, 2012 marked the Grand Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting at NAS Jacksonville for the All-Hands Club (now known as Dewey’s, in honor of the official insignia of a WWII training squadron at the station).
The 25,000 SF, $6.4 million facility was a design/build partnership between Powell Design Group and Friedrich Watkins of Orlando, and was designed by PDG founder George Powell to evoke the form of an aircraft in flight.
The building contains an entry lobby, large bingo/banquet hall, a CPO pub, casual dining restaurant, full commercial kitchen, administrative offices and support spaces. Exterior improvements include covered patios, driveways, parking, walkways and a spacious plaza and stage for outdoor entertainment.
Constructed of insulated concrete forms (ICF) with stucco and brick exterior finish and a standing seam metal roof, the building was designed to comply with the latest air barrier sealing performance requirements as well as Department of Defense Force Protection/Anti-Terrorism design criteria.
The project is registered with the USGBC and is on track to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
